How many flags are there?
if you know how many flags it is possible to collect, please let me know! I have visitors from 141 countries so far!!

Wow, thanks guys... So I need 105 or 106 more flags!!
Does that mean there are 247 countries? Wikipaedia says there are up to 206 sovereign states... Where do the extra 41 flags come from?

Please have a look at the "missing flags" list of your counter ('Details', right above the country list). You'll notice several non-sovereign areas which have their own flag and have been included in the flagcounter tool.
e.g. The Channel Islands (Guernsey, Jersey and Isle of Man), overseas areas under control of other countries (St. Pierre & Miquelon, Mayotte, Norfolk Island, Wallis & Futuna, Curacao ... just to name a few) ...
