I love collecting flags, but this type of automated bombardment of Austrian (Wien) flags is no fun. Please remove me from your computerized list, Arpad. Thanks
Yes, of course, we remove you.
But: Please look at post #1 and then at post #2. We offered many flags, and you requested them. You should not ask for something you do not want.
Kind regards from Vienna, Arpad
Anybody else to be removed? Please tell us and we will obey promptly.

I just got 30 Austrian flags overnight ! Was it you, Arpad ? If so, you have my greatest gratitude
Yes, finally we can do what we have promised. But please check the recent posts: Our offer was maybe misleading, and now, after a lot of effort to keep our promise, the outcome is not generally accepted.
By the way: We have compiled a list of all our visitors, and distributed it also to many radio amateurs worldwide. This means you should soon receive flags from relatively rare countries, too.
The list is not "automated". It has to be executed by a human sitting in front of a PC.
Kind regards from Vienna! Arpad

I understand this as an encouraging remark.
BTW: I know the link to your counter by heart.
Kind regards, Arpad.

I understand that this is not spamming, hacking or anything of that nature. I appreciate your kind and genuine efforts but unfortunately, I am not accustomed to recieving such a large amount of visitors each day. On that note, I would like to opt out of your ' list of friends '. I'd like to extend my greatest gratitude for the 60+ Austrian flags and other rare flags that you and your friends provided.

Well, here comes the good news. Summer vacations are almost over, and teaching and research is the foremost activity again. This means we have to say goodbye to this forum until Christmas holidays anyway.
Soon after writing the "Many Austrians will visit you back" post I knew this was silly. But I had the urge to prove that it is feasible. In parallel, we included many radio amateurs from around the globe into what we still consider to be a game. Note that most of the leaders are very young people, with plenty of time and impressive programming skills. I have taken the liberty to monitor their traffic, since it happens in public domain. You should try to do so to see what "flags per second" means.
We all here regret having bothered some of you with our way of giving away flags. I will step by step close all our topics in this forum within the next few days. But still we had fun to get the network up and running. Of course, it is by far easier to close it down.
So, it is not necessary for other followers of this topic to ask to be removed from the list: It is closed. Or, as my students would say,
shutdown -h -now.
Kind regards from Vienna! Arpad
