FlagCounter cheaters/hackers
OK, I have been seeing a lot of these ever since I started my FC and thought I should speak up about it.
FlagCounter is so great, but if there is anything that could possibly ruin it for me, it is these little kids (under 16 y/o) cheating and adding thousands of flags to their FC without actual visitor. I mean people with FC that look like:
Anyone with 10000+ flags from Federated States of Micronesia or any other small island country
Anyone who has a # of flags that is a good chunk of a country's population. Even 1% is questionable
Anyone with over 1 million visitors from any country is sketchy at best. Especially if it is on some hobby page or Last.fm. Only commercial website like Google could get so many flags
Anyone with more flags from a less populated island country with limited internet access compared to a decent sized European country, ie Serbia or Slovakia. The ranking of flags should be similar to that of the main FlagCounter (the one on this website) but with native language speaking countries at the top. If it is something like Jamaica or FSM in the top 10, it is obviously a fake
Basically anyone who use proxy or similar method to add flags to their FC is what I am saying.
I understand things like banning sketchy FlagCounter's or making an age limit is very hard and improbable for the admins to do, but I just wanted to see if anyone agrees with me. And does it not take the fun and challenge out of collecting, if you add them yourself? I am proud to say I got all my flags legitimately and lots of respect from me to anyone who did the same, and no respect from me to cheaters

Re: FlagCounter cheaters/hackers
Since its not specified how you should use the flagcounter, is up to each one to chose on which page it will put the counter...
but, I don't think is a cheat. My counter as an example (I don't have so much flags, but is ok)...all my visits come from internet forums =)
I don't have a webpage to keep track of my visitors...just collect flags for fun ^^
and as I payed for it, I should use it the way as I think it suits me =)

Well, I looked at your FC and it looks legitimate to me, no problems. I think putting an FC on an internet forum, or as a signature, is a clever trick, but one that is fair and I respect
My disrespect is for people who use proxy to add thousands of flags they otherwise couldn't get

Re: FlagCounter cheaters/hackers
No One would visit more than 10.000 time his site with a proxy. That would take weeks of time. And there give often no proxys for islands. I use forums too, and people who got 10.000 from FSM also use forums...

Re: FlagCounter cheaters/hackers
IMO it shouldn't be allowed to put one counter on many sites, but if it is, I see no problem.
Of course using proxies isn't a method to collect thousands of flags from islands like FSOM (never seen proxy from there).
You can only reach about 150/160 countries in a few months
Personally I want my fc to be 'intimate' and don't want thousands of visitors, but if someone enjoys it, i have nothing against
your counter, your fun, your way how to use it
every flag is welcome
Check if you really added your flag before you post "+ 1" ;)

So why do you link to your lastfm site here at FC ? Hypocrisy. Why do you even use your lastfm site to collect flags ? Double hypocrisy.
