some days ago I read an article about the issue in a newspaper - they said the ICANN respectively the IANA need a lot of time to give a new country a toplevel domain (one or two years)

It will take some time until South Sudan has his own top-level-domain, more than one year. And one day, surprisingly, someone from us will have his first South Sudanese flag and everyone is happy.

It will be the same story as with East Timor. One day, someone got it and in the next days, everyone had it...

These are definitely not regions, so this is not a good idea. I'm sure that South Sudan will get its own domain fairly soon and after that, I'm sure we'll see a new flag on Flag Counter. Cheers!
