I followed recommendation and everything works great now! 
Only problem is that it only captures new visitors. 
So based upon the number of visitors I have had in the past >7k, is there anyway that FC can capture this information?
Also, if I need to change the number of flags, I noticed if I go and get a new code that my flag counter starts at "0" again. 
Is there a work around so I don't loose the visitor I currently have logged?

Hello again & congratulations on new settings
To answer your 1st question: unfortunately no, FC captures info from the moment you insert the code
And 2nd one: click on your FC image to see nr. of visitors, flags, etc. now, near the bottom there's a little sign "Regenerate HTML" > see image < click on it! You'll be taken to a page where you can change your FC image's parameters, eg. nr. of flags, etc. there'll be image of your FC so you'll see the changes 
When you're done, click on "Get your flag counter", copy the code & paste it wherever-you-normally-do.
Just in case, back up your FC information > your fc < ok I did it for you, so you don't lose visitors if something goes wrong.
And of course, report back
