Flag Counter seems to count me every time I Visit my site
I am from Massachusetts USA and it seems to me that I get counted again every time I check my website. I think I am now 7 or 8 UNIQUE visitors. That's not right, is it?

It will count your visits if your browser deletes all cookies when you close it.
If you exclude Flag Couter cookies deletion your visit will be counted only once.

Jens, I use FF 3.5.19 and it is NOT set to delete cookies on closing. Any other ideas?

I can suggest to upgrade your browse but that will not solve the problem and you will call me a smartass.
Do you allow cookies?
Can you try to check if flagcounter is setting a cookie? If yes, check if the cookie persists when closing the browser and open the browser again. Do not access your site before having checked the cookies.

Jens, There were two cookies, when I reopen FF there is one...I have separate issues with FF 3.6x or 4.x

Are that Flag counter cookies? And which one disappeared?
I am using FF3.6. and I will try the cookie game tomorrow.

Those cookies are for this forum.
Do you have any virus scanner or other privacy software that might be deleting your cookies?
Your Flag Counter cookie will be set from s08.flagcounter.com or whatever server you are on.

I use Avast free antivirus but I don't think it blocks cookies
