What is a unique visitor?

Hi there - just signed up to have Flag Counter on our travel blog...I love it!!

The one thing I am trying to do is determine what exactly is considered a unique visitor. This definition seems to vary for websites, depending on who you talk to.

I understand it only counts ME once, but what about everybody else? If my parents go on their computer while I am away and check my site out every day, will they be counted as a unique visitor each time, and as such my flag count goes up once each day. Or be it by leaving a cookie, or tracking an IP address will it only count them once?

Thank you so much in advance for your help...

Cheers!

Skott

Re: What is a unique visitor?

A unique visitor is someone who has never loaded your Flag Counter before.

The only way someone will be counted again is if they delete the cookie that we set after our temporary IP tracking expires.
