Uniform Country Names
Our country names were working from 3 different databases. We are working to make them all be the same. For instance, instead of "Korea, Democratic People's Republic of" and "North Korea" in others, you will now see North Korea in all places.
Please let us know if you see any further discrepancies in country names, we would like them all to be the same in all places.

Will do. I will watch this thread and update in a few days in case there are more.
It's a lot of work to do it to all the servers again and again.

It's much better than before
One thing, Dominican Republic is now "The Dominican". Shouldn't it have stayed the same as before?

Re: Uniform Country Names
PS now is called "Gaza Strip" - which is not quite right because the Palestinian Territories consist of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. I think "Palestinian Territories" is the correct term to use.

Re: Uniform Country Names
I prefer the old names. Bring back the Russian Federation and the Dominican Republic! And I would like more official names like ''Federal Republic of Germany'' or ''United States of America''
Aren't we masters in geograhpy? It's our business, so we can deal with more official and complicated names!

Re: Uniform Country Names
Is it not worth discussing on what basis the uniform names should be defined? I am sure the UN has produced such catalogue with names of countries. That raises the question what about areas which are subareas of countries but providing the own top level domain like Timor Lestre?
If we use all our own opinion of what is correct or not we will never find an end with the discussion and Jeremy not with updating/amending the databases.
