How does this service work??
Hello everyone- I don't really get it. On my site I have this map of earth with 4 flags on it. The stats that come with my site (Wordpress) show that today I had 12 visitors. So far so good. BUT...then I click on the map and so I am on the flag counter site and it says that I have had 74 unique visitors! But that does not figure, I mean,how come the wordpress stats show 12 visitors and the flagcounter shows 74????
Can anyone explain? Thanks in advance.

The map shows you the countries where the visitors came from. Actually you have got 6 flags. Clicking on the map you will find the statistic overview. It says 6 countries as well. Ad it tells you 111 unique visitors (today 10:10 Central European Time). That means nothing different that you have more than one visitor from certain countries. You will see the visitors assigned to their country if you click at the line
6 different countries have visited this site. View all
on "View all"

Yes, I do understand what flagcounter is telling me, but what I was referring to is the strange discrepancy between the Wordpress stats and the flagcounter stats:

Perhaps someone has used your FC code for a few minutes, collects visits and that cause the discrepancy.
You should carefully observe the development over the next days and if the discrepancy persists, try to create a new counter.
Or, another option is the employ a different analytic tool, eg. PIWIK or Google Ananlytics. I am not familar with WP, so I don't know if the latter advice will work.
Try it and give feedback.

On the other hand, the more flags the better. And people in this forum like to browse around. That could be also a reason why the visitors increased the recent days.

Thanks for getting back.
Oh boy, the discrepancy is huge. However, it is now becoming clear that the bulk of visits come from Texas, namely Lewisville, where the one of the flags is situated. People in my environment, savvy with the Net, told me that it might very well be some sort of Google bot or indexing thingy that is somehow directed to my computer, and evidently escaping possible filters. Lewisville and Plano seem to be locations where Google bot servers are set up, so I am informed. Aside from the views coming from that Texas location, FlagCounter stats run somewhat parallel to the WordPress stats.
I gave Google analytics a lookingover but seems sort of complictaed and inspected all kinds of other counters but somehow they miss the right "feel". And anyway, it's great fun seeing those flags pop up on the map on my blog, I wouldn't want to miss that. I inspect every one of them on Googlemaps which features photos too in the vicinity and I can see on my mind's eye that person clicking on my blog in that particular place! 
Simply doting on that flagmap so not giving it up.
