Changing the Layout Error?
Yesterday I changed my counter display from showing all 248 flags, to just the top 20. I suddenly noticed that I was getting a lot more new flags and I realized that it was counting everyone as a new visitor regardless whether they had visited earlier or not. Is the counter supposed to be doing this? I don't want it to count everyone as a new visitor every time I change the layout.

Re: Changing the Layout Error?
It gets worse.. I changed it last night, and it immediately registered a new flag for my visit. Today morning, it again registered a new flag for my visit.
This never happened before, my visits never got counted. Now it looks like it is counting my visit every single time. What is going on??

Re: Changing the Layout Error?
Never mind, I confused the spammer's visit above with mine...
But the original problem stands, it did count everyone's visit as new when I changed it to display the top 20.

Re-generating your code will have no effect on whether visitors are counted new again or not.

Re: Changing the Layout Error?
Jeremy, that is exactly what happened to me. I can say this with 100% certainty, because it immediately counted me as a new visitor, when it had never done that before.
Also, I use gostats, which shows me the live feed of visitors. I know that a bunch of visitors who never got counted as a new flag, all got counted. I got my highest ever number of new visitors yesterday (apart from the very first day I installed the flag counter).
Thus, I know that regenerating the code did indeed make visitors count as new.

What is the URL of your Flag Counter?
The only way I can think of that this could have occurred is if you had an s02 Flag Counter which gave you a new code for s04.

Try going to our main page
Adjust the counter so that you can see your country's flag (if needed), and then change any one of the color settings repeatedly and let me know if your country's count increases.

Re: Changing the Layout Error?
No, my country's count does not increase.
That is not the point though. I am giving you my word that I am 100% sure that it happened with my website when I changed the number of countries it displayed. Look at the pageviews section of my flag counter. The day I changed it, the number of new visitors hit a record spike, doubling any previous day.
