Aland Islands vs Ahvenanmaan lääni

On many days I receive flags from either the Aland Islands or the Ahvenanmaan lääni as part of Finland. But this is the same region... so why is it sometimes counted as a separate entity and sometimes under Finland ?

The explanation is bureaucratic (even if illogical). The archipelago is a region of the Republic of Finland, but recognized as an "autonomous region" due to the fact that almost all the inhabitants are Swedish.
All the domains of the archipelago, before 2006, were registered under the 'aland.fi' subdomain.
In the summer of 2006 the '.ax' top-level domain was created, but not all 'aland.fi' domains decided to change to the new '.ax' top-level domain (for tax, commercial, etc. reasons). For this reason, the visits received from the islands may now turn out to be the Aland Islands ('.ax'), but some (for example, such as the internet connections managed by the Finnish telephone company http://www.elisa.fi) still appear as the Finnish Region of the Aland Islands. ('.fi').

No, the explanation isn't bureaucratical. The Ahvenanmaan laani hits are Helsinki, for some reason. An error in the coding
