Hong Kong Regionals
Hey fellow collectors,
All 18 regions of Hong Kong are possible, However, at the moment, you will see that most of your hits will be Unknown. I have corrected most of the 10 million unknown ips. After the next few Sunday updates, more regions will become easier!

Hi. How are you getting regional data for countries?
I initially thought you were going by the ISO 3166-2 standard but seeing as Hong Kong doesn't have regions based off that standard I'm assuming you're just grabbing regions from maxmind that uses geoname_id service?
I'm just interested!
I'll take a private message too if you don't want to discuss it here.
Edit: I can't find any codes here or on wikipedia
But I do notice it here
I'm wondering if geonames just made their own iso codes for simplicity of using their service.

No, the codes GeoNames use are official. Just because Wiki doesn't list them, doesn't mean they don't exist
251/251 countries and 3,860/3,860 flags collected.

I know wikipedia isn't the best place for current information but I did provide the link to the official ISO database which is also lacking HK ISO 3166-2 codes. This is specific to HK/XK themselves having ISO codes on geonames but not the official ISO database. Granted I don't know if ISO standard keeps their online database up to date. That being said this isn't an issue or anything, just something that I was curious about.

Yep. I did some research and it seems they have been discontinued. The Remark part 2 section was updated on Nov 23, 2017 and it seems they removed the codes
