Can mainland Chinese access blogspot.com?

Hi,

A few weeks back I was told as part of some other conversation that I could not get a Chinese flag on my flag counter (hosted on my blog at http://blogannath.blogspot.com) because mainland Chinese websurfers are unable to access blogspot.com (and therefore all blogs hosted on google blogger) due to government restrictions.  But a couple of days back, my flag counter got its first Chinese flag.

I am quite happy about that, but I am a little confused.  Can any mainland Chinese on this board confirm whether they can or can not access the blogspot.com domain?

This is also somewhat surprising given that Google and China are at loggerheads with each other right now, and so I doubt the Chinese government is bending over backwards to accommodate Google or any of their domains right now!  So, if blogspot was previously blocked, I doubt the block was lifted suddenly just now.  Maybe I did not actually receive a visit from mainland China, just a visit from somewhere else that got misclassified based on the IP address.

According to this, yes it is still blocked, but I'm not sure of the current status....

But I would not be surprised if the ban was suddenly lifted...

Thanks, zakur.  What do you mean by "according to this"?  Was there supposed to be a link that got missed out?

Thanks for the link.  So, it does look like a possible misclassification.  Either that or somebody copied my flagcounter onto their site for whatever reason!

I got a visit from China last night.

It was not a flagcounter hijacking, since it got recorder in many counters.
It does not look a misclasification. It came from ISP: China Unicom Shanghai Network (112.65.59.194) and he/she followed a link to my blog from a Chinese page.

I haven't received any visits from China since that one I reported in the first post.  Maybe the great firewall of China leaks!
