Just to make one thing very clear: I'm not a patriot - but a customer who bought FC Pro with the names of French regions in French, Netherland regions in Dutch, Spanish regions in Spanish and so on.
Now this is changing - without any information given before it has started.
IMHO this isn't a sign of a good seller-customer relationship...
BTW: Lorelei - are you going to turn into a well-liked and lovely girl? Are you afraid to get banned again?

I am indeed sorry to hear that you don't like the changes.. While the countries that you list did have the regions in their respective languages, the vast majority were in English. If we used Chinese or Egyptian names for their regions I am sure most of our users would be unsatisfied.
The point is, to me it made little sense to have some regions in English and others in the language of the country they represent. In the interest of uniformity, and since the country names themselves are in English as well, we decided to change them to English names.

@ Jeremy: Sorry - but I have to contradict you: The "vast majority" was in the language of the respective country - e. g. all Spanish speaking countries (including the ones in South America), Romania, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, and so on. As far as I understand even the "new" regions from Iraq and Pakistan are - just written in Latin letters. Nobody asked for Chinese or Japanese regions in Chinese or Japanese letters...
But I notice that you made your decision and that you are not willing to think it over. IMHO a "new style" which I have to accept - but I needn't like it...

Well, most of those regions do not have an English translation. I can assure you the issue is being given proper consideration, I just wanted to let you know why the change was made.

Jeremy, that fact that "most of those regions do not have an English translation" clearly contradicts your argument of "uniformity". At the moment there are some countries where a part of the regions is written in the country's language and another part in English (e. g. France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain). To me this looks just ugly... Furthermore most changes/translations to English that have been done lately refer to "North", "South", "Upper", "Lower" and so on. There isn't even an English translation for "Anhalt" in Saxony-Anhalt, formerly known as Sachsen-Anhalt...

I find it a little insulting that you feel the need to change the names into English, It really is just stereotyping what the rest of the world thinks of a majority of American's that they couldn't find their own country on a map, which is a sad but true actual statistic. I would find it insulting if you changed the Dutch Regional Flags into English, You can not compare changing Chinese and Egyptian as they aren't using Latin based alphabets I strongly disagree with the change and I hope that you stop this insulting act. Yes this is an American program but as you are well aware of a lot of none Americans use this service.

We are taking all feedback into consideration, but the fact remains our site is in English. We have heard from many users who feel the opposite. For instance, we heard from a customer who was wondering why her relative who was vacationing in the Canary Islands visited her site and it did not show up on her counter. It was previously shown as Canarias instead of Canary Islands. To me, that change makes sense.

Yes but its called Canarias not Canary Islands, I'm sorry Jeremy yes i can see where you are coming from but how would you like it everyone started writing Aйова, СШA not Iowa USA?, would you be offended?, Many of these regions have hundreds if not thousands years of heritage and using the correct names is respectful.

@ Jeremy: Referring to Canarias (or Islas Canarias) and the complaint of a customer (who wasn't able to recognize it as "Canary Islands" - seems it looked too different to her - although it did show up on her counter!!!) - I lived there for quite a while and I want the native name back! BTW: I lived in San José/Costa Rica, too. I wonder if/when you gonna change it to "Holy Joseph"...
@ Jens: You wrote about improving or English skills. Well, I guess some US Americans should improve their skills regarding other languages...
