Re: Names of German regions (states)

@meme:
I think Lorelei was referring to Angie's post. No worries with your post. Your suggestion is 100% legitimate.

I agree. Why it is so difficult to understand and to follow? Flag counter is an American service. They defined the rules and with using flag counter one accepts the rules.

This procedure works in Germany too. So, my message is to read the forum rules and to follow them.

AngelaMerkel, that works for you too.

@ Jens: Please believe me - I don't want to argue with you.
But: I do remember some of your posts (I'm not talking about PMs) which were written in German, too... Do admins have to follow the forum rules, too?

Re: Names of German regions (states)

You are right. Sometimes I post messages in German. I was thinking Angie's post was a joke and lorelei is not familiar with the German language. But believe me, it is a difference between different postings. One can read Angie's post from a different direction.

BTW: I'm not an Admin. (accuracy is not a crime; as lorelei stated a time ago) And mark 6 was not available during my school time, so I can't accept that.

Re: Names of German regions (states)

@Jens "accuracy is not a crime". U have a long memory. I told that to markmaierody many months ago. But meme is right really. There could be a compromiz(s)e. The country names stay in English, but the regions for Pro users are in the native name/language. No? More work for Jeremy...

We are working to switch every country to English names.

Would you prefer every country's names were in their own language?  We could do that, but I'm not sure it makes much sense, since the rest of our site is in English.

@ Jeremy: How's about starting a poll regarding this issue - asking for the opinions of the users and taking them into account?
For example: "Old"/Formerly used names of regions/states vs. names in English.

You've started polls regarding other issues in the past (e. g. official vs. "semi-official" flags).

BTW: The regions are not mainly shown at your site - but at the visitor logs/details/overviews of the users (provided and hosted by FC - yeah, I'm aware of that!).

BTW: I'm looking forward to read and see how the names of the Icelandic regions will be translated into English...
