Problems with comment pages

RM and clustrmap Admins do not cause problems. They do not care where their widgets, but here's Jeremy always creates problems. "I'm sorry but it's true" He should not be concerned where it is added and how much just to make money on them. You should create conditions to encourage the purchase PRO and it only discourages the use of not only pro and regular FC. In the beginning was blocked Flicr now zedge? what's next? tagged? hi5? or something else. Once I get this straight you wanted to learn new flag. Sometimes we were close to SPAM. Not just me - EVERYONE! But everyone wanted to have more flags. Once I was here for fun and now I look at only as a forum to find out if something is locked :/ I think Jeremy in the future will lose many users and you will regret their decision :/

Sorry for my English. If someone is offended I apologize, but I had to say what I think: P

I am only  a man, and I could be wrong

Re: Problems with comment pages

there is already something in that. as i remember, i would purchase 4x PRO Counter (120 Dollar) but some answers are after one week still open. yesterday i was getting close to purchase them, but i saw that again one of the mainpages was banned. by this policy i can not buy anything. that would be as if i buy the cat in the sack. i think Jeremy is clever enough and not banned tagged comment pages, which people are not owned or operated, because than the people can not get tons of the regional flags. but one of the next bans will be a hard one and the howling of the people will be much louder. i have time and see which policy brings the future. in my case a purchase of PRO is only acceptable with the change of the policy by FC. otherwise the flagcounter is unusable now. it is a shame but true.

hard but fair would be to block all comment pages (not owned or not operated) for visits in flagcounter.

Re: Problems with comment pages

I am sorry, but our decision is final.  The following page has 22 Flag Counters on it

http://www.zedge.net/ringtone/1413742/?cep=0

We have a responsibility to keep our service operating smoothy for our users.  If preventing users of our service from making further postings of this sort negatively affects you, perhaps our service is not the best choice for you.

Re: Problems with comment pages

At this point i think i have to make a few impartial comments........

quote:   If preventing users of our service from making these sort of postings negatively affects you, perhaps our service is not the best choice for you

I think the banning of certain sites affects every flag collector. Do you think it's possible to collect a set of flags without visiting these sort of sites?  The answer is a very simple no it isnt. And neither is it possible to collect certain flags without the use of a proxy/vpn, which the mention of is now also outlawed. A bit like dangling a carrot in front of the donkey, when you will never let him eat it.

Im sure there are better ways to police this situation, without totally taking away peoples chances to do what they are here for....which is obviously to collect flags.

If my comments and/or questioning of this upsets anyone i'm sorry about that, i'm trying to make constructive comments. And while the banning of certain sites doesn't affect me, i know it does a lot of people, but it also must be said that these people need to be a little bit more sensible about what they are doing. Nobody needs to post 15 counters on a page.....and Nobody needs to post 3 of their own counters either, one is sufficient to get the flag you need....so why be greedy, and want 3 ?

Re: Problems with comment pages

It definitely does not affect everyone.  In fact, we have not received a single email about this issue.  The vast majority of our users use our service to track visitors to their own websites.  Our service is not a game, it is a tool to give you a unique view of your website's visitors.

I would like to ask anyone to explain to me how the 21 counters I posted above are in compliance with our Terms of Service?

Re: Problems with comment pages

Jeremy, i'm not saying thats right ....but apart from 1 person i think all of those counters are their own......as i said before why post 2/3 i have no idea....1 is sufficient to get the flag you need. I'm merely suggesting you take a different approach to the way this is dealt with thats all, im not here to argue with anyone, i'm simply putting my point over.

And with respect to the comment regarding the majority of users are using the service to track visitors to their sites.....................well i don't........i have different trackers for that, i use the counter purely to collect flags, and i'll stick my neck out here, and say i'd guess a lot if not the majority are the same. Otherwise, why come on here in the first place to request flags?  They obviously want a flag for their collection, not another statistic..... This whole concept may have started out as a web tracker, but i think i can safely say it's evolved in a big way......its not about the visitors anymore.....people want the flags.

Re: Problems with comment pages

the 21 or 22 counters are all from different people. the postings has not done one person alone. but all this is since many years and all the same (links and picture as zedge) you will find on ALL comment pages (not owned or operated), visible or invisible, on flickr or tagged and so on. what do you think why some people get in few minutes  50% of new regional flags which you have added some minutes before? you are right , for the most of the users flagcounter is a kind of game. hard but fair is to block all comment pages. no game anymore, only real visitors. very simple.

Re: Problems with comment pages

These comment postings are already disallowed per our terms, as they are not a site owned or operated by the user.  Further, the link to our site has been stripped from the code, also not allowed per our terms.

I do not understand the outrage here.  If you only find our service useful if we allow violations of the terms upon which it is offered, I will say it again: perhaps our service is not the best choice for you.

Pages like the one I linked to above only make our service look bad.  If we do not take action, other sites might.

Re: Problems with comment pages

We are absolutely listening to our customers.  They are contacting us telling us that their counter is loading too slowly and we are finding that in many cases, this is due to either invisible counters (free users) or 20+ counters posted on a high traffic page that does not belong to the users posting it to them. We do have a business to operate here.  I believe we offer a good deal.  You can have a free counter in exchange for our logo, and a link to our site, or you can pay us for it.  A page with 20+ counters on it and not a single link back to our site does not in any way benefit us, it only adds to the load on our servers and increases our bandwidth usage and the cost to provide this service.  We have every right to address abuse of our service.

The terms are the legal agreement upon which our service is offered. We do not want customers who do not comply with them.
