New forum rule

We have added a new rule to the forum:

There will be no discussions regarding proxies or other unconventional means of collecting flags.

Please adjust your postings appropriately, if necessary, to prevent closure or removal of your thread.  Our service is intended to track legitimate visitors to your website.  We do not find that discussions regarding proxies or VPNs contribute to the spirit upon which our service is offered.  We are working to keep this forum a fun and friendly atmosphere and avoid some of the competitiveness that we have seen.

Thank you for everyone's cooperation.

Re: New forum rule

you are promotor of www.flagcentral.org <--- click "link" on the mainpage. your advertising is downstairs to the advertising of the provider from the openvpn`s!!!!! i think it is normal that people asked in forum how is to handle this all, or not?

Re: New forum rule

Alexander,

That is Paul Prince's personal site.  We have not purchased any advertising from him, nor do we have any control over his content.

Re: New forum rule

sure, it is Paul personal site, but the thread "flag central" is sticked in forum, something like important. when i see as normal flagcollector www.flagcentral.org/links with two advertisings for flagcounter.com with his forum and a company for vpn`s, proxies; you think it is not normal that a flagcollector is coming here with some questions, how it is to handle all?

Re: New forum rule

Yes maybe it has for some people, but is there anything wrong with that, i don't think so...but that's just my opinion.

and as far as the proxy/vpn debate goes, i have to ask the question, why list countries flags that are totally unobtainable except by using a proxy?  If a collector wants to try to get a full collection of flags, he has no alternative other than to use a proxy or vpn, it's as simple as that.

Re: New forum rule

Guys,
Honestly, I don't understand the discussion. Jeremy set up a new forum rule. dot.
He said nothing about that collecting flags by using proxies is forbidden. He only referred to the forum.

Time to accept the new rule. This forum is a service offered by Boardhost.com. They set the rules and I don't believe that is to discuss.

Re: New forum rule

I think I should say something to this rule.

In the thread I started, I wanted to know how these proxy things are working, but I am neither an Internet expert ( maybe I just don't understand these things like Proxy or VPN ) nor I am able to pay for something working!!! There are other things in life to spend money for, not?  I wouldn't also buy the FlagCounter Pro.

I thought about the flags who are available via proxy...and my conclusion is: These flags are synthetic or respectively simulated. No real visitors, no real flags. So it is rather good not having them, because in the end, there aren't available on the way Flagcounter should work, as Jeremy said. Real visitors, real flags, a simple principle. This new rule is absolutely acceptable.
