Just noticed i got a hit from Kamchatska Oblast.....March 26, 2012, 12:33 pm (GMT)
it's in the log, but not registered
it says new visitor= NO
how can that be......i've never had that flag before....and i've been back through the log almost 24 hours, and nothing...so it must be the first??????

Maybe the same visitor registered as something else when he first visited you. Even if the region changes, his IP doesn't and that means the visit is not counted as new.
It happened to me with my first three visits from West Papua. All of them weren't counted as new.

Exactly what Holland said. They were previously counted as something else. If I visited your site on my laptop and then take it to Russia and visit you again, I wouldn't be a new visitor either.

I found out who it is, so will speak to her again, but shouldnt they count as a new visitor after 3 hours anyway??? her 2 visits are 3 days apart??

No, they shouldn't. If they do not clear their cookies, they will never count as new visitors.

I don't think so. I told you, my first 3 visits from West Papua didn't count as new... Because they were previously counted as something else. And even after the region change, they still don't count as new.

Petropavlovsk Volgograd is European Russia in Volga river, but Petropavlovsk-kamchatskiy is Asiatic Russia in FarEast. First one from Volgograd region (old-timer remember Stalingrad battle in WWII ? - it was previously name of Volgograd about 50 years ago)
