Lack of UK flags ...
With a population of 60 million people (and rising) and an history since Noah was a boy, it's a great shame that the UK has only four 'regional' (actually country) flags on Flag Counter - England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland - and the combined Union flag of the UK.
Most counties in the UK have, or had, their own flag, together with many historic towns. But I'm guessing that UK internet addresses don't have sufficient granularity to distinguish counties. If they do, this would, in my opinion, enhance FC!

Re: Lack of UK flags ...
England alone has currently 152 top-level local government authorities, plus 193 second level districts; Scotland 32; Wales 22; and Northern Ireland 26.
These are just too many to reliably identify for FC. Also, many of these lack flags and one would have to include complicated logos or coats of arms.
While quite a few of the traditional counties had flags, how would FC identify them as they have all been obsolete since the early 1970s?
There was quite a discussion on the forum some months back in the lead up to regional UK flags being launched. The conclusion was that there is simply no way one can go below the constituent country level.

Thanks for the detailed and informative response. I agree no simple solution nor half-way house.

Re: Lack of UK flags ...
I had no idea there were so many different government authorities in England. It would make sense to have more flying, like the US. Would love to see some ideas about how this might work out.
