Re: new countries but now flags - why not

declaration of independence ist not all. i can declare also the independence of my "garden" as new country and nobody accept this. and this is the case of many of this "new countries" in your list.venezuela or nicaragua are not good samples of countries who maybe accept this kind of "new countries"  i can agree maybe only in the case of the kosovo but also the kosovo is without own domain. the most are using .com.ks domains. i have weekly visitors from pristina, kosovo and the flag is booking of serbia. in this forum is also a user from the kosovo and if he visit my counter, the flag is from albania, unknown. transilvania was a joke from my part, i know well what it is. ;)

That was my first thought, too.

Hutt River, Sealand, etc are micronations...they're not actually recognised states. Some micronations exist only in cyberspace and have no actual land, or at best maybe their house and garden.

They do however have flags... so if you want to see a bunch of flags that you'll never ever be able to get on your flag counter, look here...and weep !

Re: new countries but now flags - why not

jokes, jokes, jokes...
please see 52 years old series travel organization Travelers' Century Club's official list of countries:
http://travelerscenturyclub.org/countries
and you find countries like:Abkhazia, Kosovo, Palestine, Somaliland, Trans Dniester and Cyprus, Turkish Fed. State
Trans Dniester only official is a part od Moldova but de facto is independent...
Nagorno-Karabakh official is part od Azerbaijan but de facto is independent country (own land, borders, army, president, parliament, goverment, visa, flag, etc.....from Baku side imposible to go to Nagorno-Karabakh)

Re: new countries but now flags - why not

Now, you convice me. A teritory can be "only" official part of a country. What it's really important is "de facto" and to be recognized by TCClub , like Sicily or Tasmania.  I don't understand why my house/garden is not an independent country . I have my own land, borders, president, even a flag. What I need is an army , maybe a russian army like Transnistria.

Re: new countries but now flags - why not

TCClub countru status:
http://travelerscenturyclub.org/countries/country-status
no only countries... also islands....like Sicyly or Tasmania
Maybe your garden is independent but for example you still must pay taxes to Romania goverment and must open doors for Romania police...
In countries are very important local peoples....If you visit (you need visa) Stepanakert nobody say ...you are in Azerbaijdan. Everybaody say ...you are in Nagorno-Karabakh. If you are no in Nagorno-Karabakh where are you ...in cosmos....
If you are in Gaza Strip where are you because no in Israel or Egipt.
If you are in Disneyland you still must pay for example taxes to US or France goverment and respect local low....no your garden low.
Best wishes
