The Flag Counter.
I've just installed my Flag Counter. I was reluctant to do so as I reckon if I visit my blog - where the counter is installed - 12 times tomorrow (for example) the counter will register each of my own 12 visits represented by the Union Jack in which case the counter will soon have hundreds of Union Jacks in no time at all......Right or wrong!

WRONG......
......I just read the FAQ which is what I should have done in the first place, apparently the counter only records the first visit of each new viewer and not thereafter resulting in an accurate count of each visitor from the country he/she is from.

Re: The Flag Counter.
How flagcounter works is it records new visitors, that is by cookies. If you set your browser to not save cookies, then you will get new flag for your each visit.

Re: The Flag Counter.
Not to nitpick, but you won't get a new flag every time you visit (assuming you visit from the same country each time), only the counts next to that flag will go up if you don't save cookies (each of your visits will be recorded as a unique visitor rather than as a repeat visitor).

Re: The Flag Counter.
I have the same problem as Merlin. My own repeat visits (and not those of others, apparently,) are added each time I open my site. I've checked that my browser is set to save cookies, so my visit should only have been counted once. Any advice please?

Tonijan, if you're still around, please post the URL of your website and your flagcounter and what browser you use, so we can check

Re: The Flag Counter.
Hmmm, what's your browser & OS?
If you're being counted multiple times, there's no cookie on your computer from Flagcounter. Either your browser is not accepting cookies, or your cookies are being deleted (manually, or maybe your browser's configured to delete them when you close it. there are also spyware programs that mistakenly think all cookies are evil & delete them
Need more details from your side..

Re: The Flag Counter.
Notturno,
It seems that my repeat visits are no longer being counted, so I guess my first attempts at setting cookie acceptance failed, but subsequent attempts worked. However I now keep getting warnings each time a site tries to leave a cookie and have to accept or reject. I use Firefox with Windows Vista and Explorer.
Thanks for your interest.
