discrepancy
As a new user I don't understand the huge difference between site visits and flag views. How can anyone view the flag counter without visiting the site?

The site visits are normally higher than the flag views.
The Flag Counter image can be visited without a site being involved. Few forum users post a direct link to their flag counter for special purposes.

But the Flag views on MY site are more than double the site visits.

I do have the same. That's normal. If the visit was counted once and the flag appears (flag views) it will place a cookie to prevent additional counts of the same visitor (counter views). That cause the difference.
