Additionally I was not able to generate a cached version of your site and to get the code from there.

Oh, no. I forgot that I changed my email address for my blog earlier this year which is why the email I used to generate my flag counter and the email for my blog is different. :S
So, is there no way to get back my old flag counter?

I afraid not.
I don't know in where you live. You can try to search your blog using google or yahoo and try to get the cached version. Sometimes the counter is available from there.
Important: You have to take the "cache version" On google you can see a separate link for that version.
