Some questions

These questions are just for curiosity, but your reasons intrigue me:

1) Why a separated representation for the non-sovereign (and almost geographical continuous) Norwegian territory of the Svalbard (aka Spitsbergen) Islands?

2) I notice that some overseas departments and regions of France are not represented by a regional flag (like Reunion and New Caledonia) using the French flag instead, and for some others (for instance, Martinique) happens the opposite, being used a regional flag; but many of them have a local/regional (official or not) flag. Some are not even mentioned in the Country List (Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guyana and so one).

That's wierd, because I think the majority of US overseas terrotorities are represented...

Yes, the US overseas territories are all represented and listed, and the same applies to the Australian, British, New Zealand and the Netherlands dependencies, all (or almost) are accounted and represented by a unique flag, even some inhabited territories of Norway are accounted and listed (even not represented by a local flag of course, like the Bouvet Island), the exception it's France, reason why I've found it strange, by the other hand and strangely enough, there's a flag for the French Territory of the Southern and Antarctic Lands only habited by staff of research stations.

Re: Some questions

The territories listed are those which have an asigned ccTLD, so there are Sbalvard Islands, although they do not use their assigned ccTLD. Of course, you will never get that flag (if visited from there, Norwegian flag will show).
About French overseas territories, I asume that some of the do not have an official flag (like French Guyana and Reunion) so they show French flag. I'm not sure about this.

About the ccTLD you're right, but still is a non-sense, let's see:

There's a ccTLD to Svalbard and Jan Mayen islands (*.sj) however is not in use; no registrations, but there's also one to the finnish autonomous islands of Åland (*.ax) and these ones are not contemplated on the list.

And there's more:

1) Saint Barthélemy: ccTLD: *.bl — not in the countries list

2) Western Sahara : ccTLD: *.eh — not in the countries list — flag: http://www.flags.net/WESA.htm

3) French Guiana, ccTLD: *.gf — not in the countries list

4) Guadeloupe, ccTLD: *.gp — not in the countries list — Unofficial flags used locally: http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/gp.html

5) Saint Martin, ccTLD: *.mf — not in the countries list
- dutch part: http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/an-sm.html
- french part: http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/mf.html

6) Martinique, ccTLD: *.mq — not in the countries list, but with individual flag

7) New Caledonia, ccTLD: *.nc — not in the countries list — flag: http://www.flags.net/NWCA.htm

8) Palestine, ccTLD: *.ps — not in the countries list — flag: http://www.flags.net/WEBA.htm

9) Réunion, ccTLD: *.re — not in the countries list  — flag: http://www.flags.net/RNUN.htm

The political status of Western Sahara are so controversial as the one of Kosovo, so I can understand that one, but and about the others?

Re: Some questions

Western Sahara and Palestina are in the country list (It is listed alphabetically by TLD , they are in EH and PS.

Others are misses from the list, there were 6 known so far: http://flagcounter.boardhost.com/viewtopic.php?id=219

If you could make a post with all the missing flags, that would be great.
