After consideration of a great deal of feedback, we have added a Repeat Visitor Preference section to Flag Counter Management.

Since the beginning of our service, we have set a 6 month cookie so that a visitor to your site is counted as a New Visitor (and adds a flag) no more than once every 6 months.  With the introduction of this section, it is now completely up to you.  If you do nothing, the 6 month default will remain on your counter and nothing will change.

However, you can instead now choose for your counter to set a cookie that lasts for either 24 hours, 72 hours, 1 week, 30 days, 3 months, 6 months or for an entire year.

Additionally, you can also choose for your counter to not use cookies, and instead count a unique IP address as a New Visitor again after either 24 or 72 hours.

Please note that any changes you make could have a significant impact on your counter's statistics.  A decrease in how often repeat visitors are counted will certainly increase your "New Visitors" and the number of new flags being added to your counter each day, and your charts may begin appearing significantly higher.  Please carefully consider these factors before making any adjustments.
