For Jeremy.........Cookies.
You mentioned to me a while ago your thought of removing cookies, and having a hit count every so many hours.
Has any more thought has gone into this, or are we going to continue using them?
It's getting to the stage now where lots of long term users are really struggling to get new hits from rare regions that have previously counted as something else and been fixed, or are simply new additions.
I have personally missed around 5 new hits because of cookies, and i know other users are having similiar issues.
I suggest going ahead with your idea to remove them, and have a hit count every so many hours.....this would give us a fighting chance to get the hits.
You yourself stated that it was an advantage for long term users to collect more flags as regions & countries would come and go. But it isn't panning out that way, new counters are able to collect many more "new" hits....while the older counters are collecting many more "no" hits.
What are your thoughts on this, and what do other users think?

I totally agree with this. I've lost 4 regions thanks to cookies...

I have also missed regions due to cookies, and support removing them.

Re: For Jeremy.........Cookies.
We had not yet advanced from privately collecting feedback from users both on and off of this forum. A decision is not imminent, due to the significance of such a change on both new and current statistics.
The current cookie is a 180 day cookie and not permanent, so I'm not sure that there is such a distinct disadvantage for "old" users.

Re: For Jeremy.........Cookies.
so i have to wait 180 days for a hit to count as new?
i'd call that a huge disadvantage to be honest.

Re: For Jeremy.........Cookies.
180 days? How about changing that to 60 days? That would pretty much do...

Re: For Jeremy.........Cookies.
I think 24 hours would be a trade off, as many bloggers post once a day, this would give them a good indication on return visits
