Nobody ever says GB. And how many domains do you see that end.gb ? None. They are all UK. I don't see how GB can be correct here anyway, if includes visits from N. Ireland.

Gb its okay, why not...

The problem is that the UK government is not consistent in its usage either!
For example, the Olympic Team is always GB (even though it contains athletes from Northern Ireland), the vehicle identification plate is GB not UK; the philatelic world uses GB not UK.
As Wikipedia states: "The abbreviation GB is frequently used for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in international agreements, e.g. Universal Postal Union and Road Traffic Convention, as well as in the ISO 3166 country codes (GB and GBR)."
