Flag counter problems at website

I have a flag counter in my profile at a certain website but two days ago things began to go strange. The flag counter was no longer displayed and instead the paragraph above it changed colour from black to blue and became clickable when originally it was just a plain paragraph with black fonts. When clicked it sends me to the flag counter statistics as would have happened if I had clicked on the flag counter image when it was there. This altered paragraph is to the top right of my profile just above the Feedjit counter (see url below)

Then today when I click the above paragraph it takes me to the flag counter page which prompts visitors to create a flag counter!!!

So what happened? Did the above mentioned website made changes that corrupted the flag counter HTML codes? Obviously I don't want to lose the 86 flags I collected since early December 2011 when I started but rather collect more, so how do I restore the same flag counter? I will be very grateful for any advice on how to fix this problem.

Also if I go directly to the url of my flag counter everything displays correctly except that when clicking "Overview" I get the above mentioned "Create Your Free Counter" prompt as if the flag counter I had since December 2012  no longer exists.

Re: Flag counter problems at website

That is what what your html is saying:
<br /><a href="http://s10.flagcounter.com/more/9zJ">I am offering a couch in my flat in Cyprus. It's very useful to meet people from other countries and cultures and see what their perspective on life is like, this broadens one's horizons.<br /><br /><div><img src="http://s10.flagcounter.com/count/9zJ/bg_4AE8D8/txt_000000/border_CCCCCC/columns_6/maxflags_200/viewers_0/labels_0/pageviews_1/flags_1/" border="0" alt="free counters" />
<br />

You have placed the text "I am offering a couch in my flat in Cyprus. It's very useful to meet people from other countries and cultures and see what their perspective on life is like, this broadens one's horizons.<br /><br /" in the link <a href="http://s10.flagcounter.com/more/9zJ">

What I would recommend is to take the text out and provide it in the following way
<br />I am offering a couch in my flat in Cyprus. It's very useful to meet people from other countries and cultures and see what their perspective on life is like, this broadens one's horizons.<br /><br /><a href="http://s10.flagcounter.com/more/9zJ"><div><img src="http://s10.flagcounter.com/count/9zJ/bg_4AE8D8/txt_000000/border_CCCCCC/columns_6/maxflags_200/viewers_0/labels_0/pageviews_1/flags_1/" border="0" alt="free counters" />

BTW: Your counter is working correctly. My visit from Germany was counted and your statistic looks reasonable.
<br />

I don't know what the <div> tag is doing but it seems to be a couchsurfing issue. So keep it as it is.

Re: Flag counter problems at website

Hi Jens, thanks for the quick and comprehensive reply. I put in the HTML script you suggested (it is there now) and it returned above said paragraph to normal but flag counter still not appearing on profile. Perhaps it is a couch surfing issue! Or a different script is needed.

But as long as I can see the stats at the url of this flag counter it's OK.

You are right, things at the url of my flag counter are working normally now, clicking "Overview" does not prompt an application to get a  new flag counter but shows the usual stats.

Re: Flag counter problems at website

I can see the counter on your profile page, if that is the page you provided.
I also see that the code was cleaned as suggested and all is fine IMO.

Re: Flag counter problems at website

My FlagCounter has got crazy since yesterday. When I click on it to check my new flags, I get the message Welcome, INSTANTLY CREATE YOUR FREE COUNTER. What is this? I have not changed anything, I really don't want to lose all my flags. Please, can you help me?

Re: Flag counter problems at website

Thanks Jens for checking it out, I still can't see the flag counter in my profile so I think it is finally a couch surfer issue. But good to know that other people can see it.

Re: Flag counter problems at website

Just to let everyone know, the FC appeared as normally yesterday after it was not showing for about 3 or 4 days. Probably something to do with FC website or website where my profile is located.

Re: Flag counter problems at website

When you are young, you may want several love experiences. But as time goes on, you will realize that if you really love someone, the whole life will not be enough. You need time to know, to forgive and to love. All this needs a very big mind.
