Re: Names of German regions (states)

if the original names don't come back i could live with that if there will be both native and english names. a "language option" as meme suggested would be nice if its possible. if it isn't maybe we can just list both in one for example "Sachsen (Saxony)" but i would prefer the first one.

Re: Names of German regions (states)

Alright, I have an idea that just might satisfy everyone.

What if we were to show U.S. users the translated names, and everyone else the original names?  We would use the same technology used for the counter to determine which version to show.

Re: Names of German regions (states)

I am an English-speaking user but not a US user. Like many others. So do I get a language choice if I upgrade?

Lorelei: How's about upgrading first and asking afterwards? Instead of trying to spoil a good idea which - I guess - will satisfy everyone - maybe except you...

Re: Names of German regions (states)

Just so we're all on the same page, regions like:

North Chungcheong (South Korea) would be Ch'ungch'ong-bukto after the changes.

Lower Austria would become Niederosterreich

Alexandria, Egypt would become Al Iskandariyah,
New Valley, Egypt would become Al Wadi al Jadid

Southern District, Israel would become HaDarom

East Flanders, Belgium would become Oost-Vlaanderen

South East Sulawesi, Indonesia would become Sulawesi Tenggara

South Moravian, CZ would become Jihomoravsky kraj

Are you sure?
