I know wikipedia isn't the best place for current information but I did provide the link to the official ISO database which is also lacking HK ISO 3166-2 codes. This is specific to HK/XK themselves having ISO codes on geonames but not the official ISO database. Granted I don't know if ISO standard keeps their online database up to date. That being said this isn't an issue or anything, just something that I was curious about.

Hi. How are you getting regional data for countries?

I initially thought you were going by the ISO 3166-2 standard but seeing as Hong Kong doesn't have regions based off that standard I'm assuming you're just grabbing regions from maxmind that uses geoname_id service?

I'm just interested!

I'll take a private message too if you don't want to discuss it here.

Edit: I can't find any codes here or on wikipedia

https://www.iso.org/obp/ui/#iso:code:3166:HK

But I do notice it here
http://www.geonames.org/HK/administrative-division-hong-kong.html

I'm wondering if geonames just made their own iso codes for simplicity of using their service.

Thanks very much appreciated! I'm getting loads of hits now! I'm always looking for the six super rare flags so I can contribute if I ever find ways. UM/TF/GS...EH/BV/HM.

Hi could I join? I'm the one with AQ, but I'm more interested in regionals. I'm still trying to figure out how to get more visitors since I just joined this community! I can get most countries myself but regionals is more difficult to get hits.

As for Maxmind regions I found this

http://www.maxmind.com/download/geoip/misc/region_codes.csv

I haven't crosschecked however what flags we have to what maxmind has regions for, but would be willing to put in time to compile regional flags based off of maxmind database.

Hello!

I'm a fellow flag collector! I'm very interested in your Flag Counter Pro.

I'm from another flag community located on the site 4chan.org (I don't recommend the site) known as /flag/ or /extraflags/ on their international board.

What interests me about your counter is the difficulty? Of obtaining regionals. As such 4chan only goes to the country level (it also uses maxmind db), so we have to use an browser extension to get regionals. However, that extension can't see the IPs of posts and only the country so it's up to the individual to choose a region. So my IP being in the US I can choose any US territory, but can't choose a Canadian territory.

Anyways, over the years various member have contributed to our regional database and we have thousands of regionals. Some go four level deeps. Example

Country>State>County>City.

Some places include "special Regions" that often can get us to 5 or even 6 flags.

I haven't looked into how regionals are added on flag counter, but we have a large database if you need them!
