Region Names
We have recently put efforts into ensuring that there is uniformity among the names of each country's regions. To do so, we converted each country's regions to the English translation, i.e. Canarias became Canary Islands.
Would you prefer the region names be in English, or instead in the language of each respective country?
Example affected regions in English:
North Chungcheong, South Korea
Lower Austria, Austria
Alexandria, Egypt
New Valley, Egypt
Southern District, Israel
East Flanders, Belgium
South East Sulawesi, Indonesia
South Moravian, Czech Republic
The above regions in their respective languages:
Ch'ungch'ong-bukto, South Korea
Niederosterreich, Austria
Al Iskandariyah, Egypt
Al Wadi al Jadid, Egypt
HaDarom, Israel
Oost-Vlaanderen, Belgium
Sulawesi Tenggara, Indonesia
Jihomoravsky kraj, Czech Republic

I made my comments in the closed German thread, which meme is annoyed about. I am not Pro, but I seriously believe regional collectors should have the right to collect that particular region in either native/local name or English name. This is from a neutral flag collector. I voted "makes no difference" in any case.

Jeremy - sorry, but I agree wirh Paul Prince. Why starting a poll when it seems that the result won't count much?
BTW: Your information in the first post isn't quite right: Actually there are a lot of countries with a mixture of native and English names of the regions - e. g. Belgium, France, Netherlands...

I have no interest in the results one way or the other. I said that I can delete the poll if you like, in direct response to both your and Paul Prince's questioning of why it was started.
