Flag Counter Forum / 10 times increase in views

Over the last 4 days my views have jumped from around 4 or 5 a day to 40 or 50 a day. In all the years (13) I've never had that many hits. Is there some kind of problem, has my account been hacked?

You cannot hack a counter. It's a simple widget. Are they from a specific country? If yes, they might be Google bots/crawlers

No they are mostly from different countries, I've had loads today.

That is odd. The only thing I can think of is that someone's posted a link to your site somewhere and now people are clicking it

I've had 257 Visitors and 319 Counter views so far over the last 4 days, the norm is 15 to 20 over the same period. What's going on?

Try adding your QRZ to the list of allowed sites (in your Management Section) and see if that changes anything. If not, then it's people viewing your site

Oh, you're not a pro? Then there isn't much you can do, I'm afraid. Either someone's posted your counter somewhere or a link to your site

EDIT: Okay, I see you have a hit from Pitcairn. That's a VPN only country. Someone has been visiting your site using VPNs

OK thanks for that. It looks like you have located the issue. I did think about limiting the number of flags it's 250 at the moment. At least I won't get swampt with odd flags then. Then put it back to 250 when whoever is doing this gets board and goes away.

We too have experienced similar strange happenings to our website. For many years we've been getting 5 or 6 hits per day then it's suddenly jumped to 13 on 23rd October, peaked at 53 on 24th October and now stabilised at around 30 per day. Most peculiar. Any thoughts?
