Images are permitted in Signature Block (I think)
On the Signature Block page, the Instructions specifically say:
"Compose your signatureA signature is a small piece of text that is added to the end of all of your posts. You can enter just about anything you like. Perhaps you would like to enter your favorite quote or your star sign. It's up to you!"
Isn't a Star Sign an image? 
Sorry to be persistent but rules are rules and I am a professional webmaster...

Secondly:
It is a matter of facts that images (smileys) can't be added to the signature.
I think we should give Jeremy a chance to reply on that.

He already did once or twice. He said that if he allowed images in signatures, people would overspam the forum to get hits to their counters.

Hi Dave,
We do not allow images in signatures because some users were abusing it. The message above the signature form is generic, and appears on all of the forums that we host.
