problem with countries beeing counted wrongly
Hi people...
I think everyone here has this problem and it's getting pretty anoying...
I've got 3 visits from Guine-Bissau today, 1 visit from North Korea yesterday, and 1 tuvalu today and other two days ago. All these visits were counted as another country.
I mean, get a wrong hit by a region is ok, but miss a hole country?
sorry Jeremy, the flagcounter is great, I think its the best service of this kind available...is nice that is free, but the IP database used to count the countries is horrible!

So which countries were they counted as ? You can use a proxy in Bouvet Island, it's always counted as Brazil.

North korea was counted as germany (oO)
Tuvalu was counted as Australia.
Guine Bissau I don't know >.<
Bouvet island does not have a ow ISP lorelei, so it uses other countries to conect to the internet or uses sattelite conections...the same case as svalbard, and other places...but I am not arguing about these cases...I mean, countries that should have to be counted right are not being counted. I remember cases here that Rwanda was counted as other country too.
the point is: now, Tuvalu is beeing counted as Australia, tomorow as Tuvalu, next day as Australia. It's a mess.
countries that have this problem: saint martin, saint helena, tuvalu, niue, nauru, tokelau, BIOT, and impressive, UM is working ok, but there seems to be a bug with guine bissau.

Ok. People say that SH and Tuvalu don't count now. Maybe they are now UK and Australia. North Korea and Niue still count. I got both recently. Your visitors may be using proxies. And using proxies that hide behind other proxies.

I dont' think that's the problem Lorelei.
My Maploco counted them correctly.

It's not that weird getting Germany instead of North Korea
The KCC's branch in Germany was established in 2003 by a German businessman, Jan Holtermann, and is in Berlin. At the same time, Holtermann set up an intranet service in Pyongyang and, according to Reporters Without Borders, "reportedly spent 700,000 euros [more than US$950,000] on it. To get around laws banning the transfer of sensitive technology to the Pyongyang regime, all data will be kept on servers based in Germany and sent by satellite to North Korean Internet users." Nevertheless, it ended the need to dial Internet service providers in China to get out on the Web.

What? There's no bug with Guinea-Bissau. It's only hard to get cause it's a small country.
And yeah, most of the visits from DPRK are counted as Germany. You know, ordinary people do not have an access to internet in there. Only foreigners and high officers.

well...I´ve got 3 different visitors from Gunea-Bissau on maploco and none on flagcounter (and both images are on the same place)
and I don't mean that is a problem with all Guinea-Bissau, but only with some IP-Ranges.
