Radio Frankenstein International

Radio Frankenstein International is a weekly one-hour  music show, broadcast online via Hive Community Radio, based in South Tyneside, UK.

I've been doing it for a year now, originally fortnightly but from January I stepped up to weekly.

New show every Thursday at 8 pm (UK), repeated the following Sunday at 7 pm (UK). Outside the UK you'd need to make adjustments for your local time - there are convertors online.

I've just made a new website for the show, where you can hear the most recent broadcast, as well as accessing older programmes.

If you want to know the sort of music played, the slideshow on the website gives examples.

Re: Radio Frankenstein International

It's good idea. I don't know what does it look in the UK, but in Poland (I heard about it few years ago, so situation can be different now) if You want to have radio on the website, You don't have to pay for the concession (it is obligatory, if You provide typical, conventional radio on FM).
I wish You best for Your radio!

Re: Radio Frankenstein International

Hi Prekmurska,

I'm not sure of the situation (I just do my show and let the station deal with the legal stuff). I think the station pays fees to the company that puts them on-line, and also royalty fees for artists.

I dont have to pay anything http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/happy.png
.... on the other hand, I dont get paid either http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/depressed.png

Re: Radio Frankenstein International

I remember than when I was younger (early 2000's) I hadn't any access to the Internet. In that time, when I was a teenager, Internet was too expensive for my parents. When I wanted to listen to foreign stations I used old radio with the possibility of short waves. In that time it was like Flagcounter forum . I still remember, that I used to listen to Radio Moscow (I appreciated poetry and old Russian music), sometimes I had also Radio Vatican. One nigth I "caught" also one African station from Chad (later I knew, that the Chadian radio is quite common on short waves in Central and Eastern Europe). But today I appreciate Internet http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/cool.png

Re: Radio Frankenstein International

Yes, I used to have a short wave radio... especially good for when I had to work the night shift, back in the 1980s - I remember the English language broadcasts of Deutche Welle (Germany), Moscow, and Radio Tirana (Albania) were regular listening.

Anyone interested in listening to internet radio from around the world should take a look at Radio Garden...each dot on their map is somewhere with an internet radio station, click on the dot to listen.
