Changes in country calculation
As of today, unknown flags will no longer show on your counter, and will no longer count towards the number of countries that have visited you.
These unknown flags are:
Unknown - Anonymous Proxy
Unknown - Asia/Pacific Region
Unknown - Satellite Provider
Unknown
So if you previously had visits from 200 "countries" and had visits from each of the unknowns, we will now show that you have received visits from 196 countries.
Why have we made this change? The "unknowns" are definitely not countries themselves, and including them in the country count is confusing and inaccurate. We have received a great deal of feedback regarding this issue, and having "unknown" flags appearing on users' sites has caused a lot of confusion.
The number of visits from each of the unknowns will now show at the end of your country list.

Re: Changes in country calculation
It took me a minute or so to realise what had happened. I looked at my counters and noticed that while all the unknown flags have gone from the global counters "Unknown" still appears as the newest flag on one of my counters. Unknown state still appears in the US state details list too.

Re: Changes in country calculation
Wasn't that my idea?
Good work, Jeremy ...maybe you can add some explanation for the Unknown flags on a seperate link you can visit my clicking the Unknown flag. Should be somekind like this:
''Dear Flagcounter User, you just received an Unknown flag. This means that ....''
Would be great for some people that they can understand what their Unknown flags are meaning.

THANKS! Jeremy, That is better... having the unknown flags *all grouped* together at the bottom.
