Flag counter not displaying on discogs all of a sudden

EDIT: This was a combination of 2 issues, which since Jeremy has resolved:
1) non display of flag: clear the allowed websites in the management section.
2) missing url(http referer/webpage visited), showing as "unknown": change the flag code from http:// to https:// , this may work for other websites other than discogs which have recently updated their servers to use SSL protocol.
(It is possible to also regenerate your code, if you're not comfortable with editing the code yourself)

My pro account is paid up to date as of last month but it's not displaying since the 11th of Febuary, not just on my own computer, it's not displaying for anyone else, because when I go into the visitor log, there's no hits whatsoever but I know that people are viewing my listings given I've checked it on other computers(given I have my own IP blocked from adding to the view count).

Anyway, I checked another discog sellers profile on to make sure it wasn't something on discogs end(I won't include a link here incase he starts getting nuisance hits), but his user name is 2tec and his is working fine. I clicked view source on the page to see if his was in a slightly different format to mine and it's not.

Has anyone got any suggestions?

P.s. this has nothing to do with discogs no longer HTML on user/seller profile pages on discogs.com, that happened a couple years back, I changed my code back then and it worked without any trouble until now.

Re: Flag counter not displaying on discogs all of a sudden

When someone visit your site the regional flag will count as normal,
but in the details they tell you that the site is unknown. I know that this happens now a couple of days.
Before it worked normal.

Thanks a lot for your suggestion lieuwe but I think you might have misunderstood my original post, maybe I wasn't very clear, I wasn't quite sure how to word it..

I've got no hits in my visitor log since the 11th of Feb, 5 days now, yet I know I am getting visitors(I've verified this by visiting myself using a friends smart phone and laptop), here's picture(sorry it's so small but, the message size limit on the forum is 64KB! lol

EDIT: image wouldn't display right so I've used a third party website to host the picture, here it is:

Re: Flag counter not displaying on discogs all of a sudden

Hi Pad,

What is the address of your site? If your visitor log isn't logging any visitors then your counter can't be displaying. If your counter is appearing, it's either a local image or loading through some sort of proxy.

This forum does not allow inline images at this time, so I have removed the coding from your posting as it was very lengthy.

Thanks for that Jeremy, I changed the image to a link.

It's not displaying, I'm on discogs.com, here's a link to my profile, I have the flag on this page but it also is supposed to display in my seller terms code which is displayed alongside every 12" vinyl I have for sale on that website.

here is an image of my code:

Any suggestions? I found this very unusual as I went thru the change over from BBcode process a year or so back and never had any problems since, I'm sure there's a logical explanation, I don't see any other discogs sellers(with flags) with the same problem..

Re: Flag counter not displaying on discogs all of a sudden

Hi Pad,

It appears you are using our "Allowed Sites" feature, and it seems for some reason it seems that your page is not sending an HTTP REFERER, so we are not able to detect where the visit is coming from. This is resulting in the counter not displaying because it is not detecting the site as being allowed.

I have cleared your Allowed Sites setting and your counter is appearing normal, but the visitor log is not able to identify where the visits are originating.

I would suggest contacting your website provider to determine if, how, and why they are doing this. I believe there are ways of doing so through Javascript, but this would be the first I have seen.

You might try the SSL version of our code, but I'm not sure if it will make a difference.

Re: Flag counter not displaying on discogs all of a sudden

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for looking into this and I understand what you're saying but if no-one else on discogs is having this problem, then can you think what else the issue could be?

I searched the forums before adding this new topic to prevent duplicate posts and wasting peoples time but it doesn't seem anyone else on discogs.com is experiencing this problem and if other people where experiencing this and paying for the visitor log service with a pro account, I'm sure they would be asking why it's not working.

I'll give the SSL version a go and I know what you mean about javascript( thanks for the suggestion, however, adding javascript and bbCode isn't allowed on discogs.com , also, if no one else on discogs is having this problem then it would seem, http referals are being sent, I mean, I can't see how discogs' server would send http referals for hits from one seller/user profile but not for another, their servers interpret each users code the same way, don;t you agree?

I'll put in a support request with them also and let you know what their feedback is.

Re: Flag counter not displaying on discogs all of a sudden

If you know of another pro user who is using that site I can check if their visitor log has the same issue.

Re: Flag counter not displaying on discogs all of a sudden

It does look like the same issue is affecting his counter.
